LMR-400 becomes essential when dealing with VHF, UHF or Ghz. Generally 56 MHZ and below a lower grade coaxial cable is sufficient. Although more expensive the higher quality coax becomes ESSENTIAL at about 6 meter and higher frequencies.
In my case it is easier to purchase pre-made cables with connectors already on them especially when dealing with Type N connectors. The PL-259 connectors are easier to put onto the end of a cable, a thick cable at that.
When I setup my 4G LTE home network I had to use LMR-400 with Type N connectors already crimped onto the cable. This made it so I all I had to do is purchase the type N to SMA to plug it into the MoFi 4500. The Yagi's already had type N females.
